week 21 – the beta version has officialy launched🚀

The day has finally come. I deployed the first working version of the app: www.codingella.com.
As I mentioned in the previous post, for the pro plan I decided to first check if there would be a demand so I created an email request from. When more than 20-30 people apply, I will finish the premium version for the application. For now, I’ll try to use it to learn new things so there will be at least one user 😎.

what means beta version?

Beta version includes

  • two question categories (.Net and angular) with over 60 questions divided by difficulty level (junior/mid/senior)
  • one interview example
  • ranking of users with the most points

how do I plan to promote the app?

I was planning to release on ProductHunt and IndieHackers but when I noticed I had to be an active user (I have to participate in discussions and be involved in other topics) to be eligible to do so.
Also remembering that this app was not created for profit, I decided to release it only here and when I learn something about online marketing (which is related to my next project) I will try to promote it through online adds e.g. on Facebook.

biggest mistake

My main goal was to learn, not to earn, so I think I spent too much time on designing the UI & moving divs for hours 😆.
The second thing I realized while looking for places to publish my product is that I should first validate my idea and then proceed with its implementation. This would help me get more users to log into the app.

what was the hardest part?

  • Implementing JWT authentication (with refresh token). Finding a good tutorial on how to handle JWT and refresh token was quite difficult as it’s hard to find a comprehensive documentation on the subject.
  • Setting up the Azure as I haven’t work with it before. The hardest part was choosing the best service to host my backend & frontend. I had to spent a lot of time reading and learing first.

was it worth it?

My main goal was to learn the basics of frontend (Figma & HTML & CSS & Angular) and cloud hosting (Azure) and the goal was achieved so I’m happy.

time spent

  • from last week
    20h 0m
  • overall
    301h 0m

costs

  • from last week
    0 $
  • overall
32 $ (I paid only for registering the domains, until now I’m hosting everyting with free Azure subscription).

what now?

As I said in the first post on this blog, my plan is to have at least three failed online business projects by the end of August 2023. So I still have six months to try other ideas.
I will start the second project from the next week. Stay tuned 🙌
