week 20 – landing page, terms of service, privacy policy

I did my best to launch the app before Valentine’s day but I failed πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. I had no deadline dictated by the market or some external source – it was just my personal goal so nothing bad happened.
All in all, I’m satisfied with the things I did last week πŸ‘. Everything that was planned was done, but when I moved to release the app I first took a look at the latest added products on indiehackers.com and realized that I need two more things: a landing page and pricing plans.
As I mentioned many times on this blog, the plan for Codingella was to gain experience and learn the whole process of creating and publishing the app. I didn’t plan to make money on this one. I just envisioned that it is a good possibility to also test my marketing skills and draw conclusions for the future.
The next thing that made me spend more time on unplanned features (like a premium plan) is that after creating a landing page and asking my friends about the review I received positive feedback that the app looks good enough to try monetizing it. As I don’t want to spend more weeks working on new features without getting feedback from the broader audience I decided to implement the premium plan only when there will be sufficient requests. That’s why, for now, I decided to inform users who would want to buy a premium plan that it’s not finished yet and ask them if they want to be notified when it will be ready.

Privacy policy & terms of service + making decision on what should be in premium plan
