week 19 – reset password feature added, improving security πŸ”’

I had plans to make the official release of the app in the first week of February, but I didn’t manage to do it. The reset password feature and issues with Azure Key Vault took me longer than expected. Currently the app is out of service πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈdue to some problems accessing the secrets, but I tested the reset password feature locally (main goal for the last week) and it works fine. I don’t anticipate any issues on PROD with this feature.
I tried to list the last things before the official release and the only thing I found really important was information about cookie policy (ofc apart from fixing the secrets issue). It makes me look at the beginning of the week with a positive attitude.
As I mentioned last week, I have already made the first steps for the next project but I’ll start it after finishing the work on codingella (working on many things at once doesn’t work for me…).

what was done last week?

  • validations for the registration form
  • reset password feature (with sending the email)
  • move secrets to Azure Key Vault (there is some work left)

what was the biggest impediment?

Learning the process of reseting the password and learning how to store the secrets locally and in Azure. It was new stuff for me and I had to read a lot about it and find the best solution for my project.

what is the plan for next week?

  • fix the bug with Azure Key Vault
  • add cookie policy information
  • make official launch on product hunt and indie hackers

time spent

  • from last week
    13h 0m
  • overall
    258h 30m

costs

  • from last week
    0 $
  • overall
    32 $

summary

I hope that the next post will be about the official release and about the first registered users 🀞. I’m really motivated to finish/take a break from working on this project. In order to release the application faster, I gave up the idea of a premium version for now.
