week 1 – first commit and plan for the upcoming weeks

This week I didn’t have much time to work on the project, but I did manage to push it a bit. From this week on, I plan to monitor the time spent on the project ⏱️. I don’t know if I will be able to post on the progress every week, but let’s try and see how it goes.

what did I do last week?

I started with buying a domain and found out that the domain with the name I chose for the project (sharpsy) is already taken… So I changed the project name to codingella and bought the codingella.com domain 📃

I also created a github repository and made the first commit. For now, I will keep it private, but maybe it will become open-source in the future 🚀

what was the biggest impediment?

Finding a different name for my app. Fortunately, there are sites like businessnamegenerator.com.
It helped me a lot with finding the project name that is available as a domain.

what is the plan for next week?

  • First, I want to make a simple sketch of the page with questions (view after logging in) and start to implement it. I’m not starting with the login feature to stay motivated. When I develop some other features first, maybe I will look for some existing third-party libraries for that.
  • I have to choose IDE. I use Rider at work but for my side project I need to choose between Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code. I really like Rider but for now I don’t want to spend money
    on it 💸
  • I need to dust off mu Angular knowledge (I haven’t used it in 2 years)

costs

  • from last week
23.78 $ – registering domains (.com, .net, .pl)
  • overall
    23.78 $

summary

Like I said at the beginning, this week was pretty crazy (I had to do a lot of non-work related stuff) but I’m still glad I found some time to push the project and write a blog post about it.
