I must admit that it was a long year for me personally…
A lot of things happened in every areas of my life.
That’s why I think this year was groundbreaking in many respects.
This blog is not about my personal life but about business initiatives/professional life so I will share here only things that happened in this sphere.
I only started setting and measuring my goals this year, so I can’t compare which 2023 goals were met and which weren’t.
This post will help me do that next year.
Failures
- I didn’t manage to get my first real users for any of the apps I worked on this year:
- I wasted a lot of time jumping between technologies instead of using the tools I knew
- I spent many weeks setting up an e-commerce store, which I ultimately didn’t open because I keep postponing reaching out to a tax advisor
- I failed to release the course for beginner programmers I’m working on before Christmas (I set this goal a few weeks ago).
- I started 3 courses, which I didn’t finish, I keep postponing them:
- Azure certification course
- Docker course
- DNA – course for senior developers and architects
- Despite many efforts, I was unable to get a raise at my current job
- I tried to do too many things at once
- I didn’t plan my days off
- I agreed to all new cooperation/business offers without prior planning, research, market verification
Successes
- I created the first online product (course in the fitness industry) that was purchased by 48 people
- I created the first paid marketing campaigns on Facebook and TikTok
- This year I finally started to actually turn my ideas into actions. I think I validated almost every business idea I had. I have created 5 landing pages for different products and published several marketing materials for various SM platforms
- I stopped abandoning business ideas after the first days or weeks. For each idea, I created an MVP and tested it with at least 10 people who left feedback
- I joined the Trends vc community in May and since then I have been participating in daily stand-up updates and was invited to a mastermind group with people more experienced than me, from whom I have the opportunity to learn a lot
- I invested several thousand dollars in knowledge (online courses) and tools to improve my work, which has already more than paid off
- I spent a lot of time on financial education and started investing passively in the stock market. So far so good
Goals for 2024
- Work on less things at a time (max 2)
- Plan free time
- Keep failing quick (some idea has to work out eventually)
- Publish book for junior programmers which I have already started
- Create an online store and start selling physical products
- Build and validate at least 1 new B2B web app idea
